I had several stains from my dogs and then my dogs had got sprayed by a possum which really made the house smell and these two men did a fantastic job. Why does my grout look darker than the tile?

Grout is porous, so it absorbs grease, soil, and moisture over time. That buildup settles below the surface and dulls or darkens the lines, even when the tile itself still looks clean. Professional cleaning lifts that embedded soil back out, which is why grout often looks several shades lighter afterward.

Can cleaning make old grout look new again?

Cleaning removes embedded dirt and usually restores a lot of the original look. Where grout is permanently stained, worn, or uneven in color, cleaning alone may not bring it fully back. In those cases Color Seal restores a uniform color and seals the grout at the same time. We will tell you honestly which one your floor needs.

Should I seal my grout after cleaning? How often?

Sealing is optional but worth considering, since cleaning strips away any old sealer and fresh grout is porous. A sealer helps grout resist stains and moisture and makes routine cleaning easier. As a general guide, grout is resealed every one to two years, and sooner in wet or high-traffic areas like showers and kitchens. A quick test: drip water on the grout. If it soaks in instead of beading, it is time to reseal.

Do you clean natural stone like marble or travertine?

We clean ceramic and porcelain tile and grout with our standard process. Natural stone such as marble, travertine, limestone, and slate is acid-sensitive and can be etched or dulled by the wrong products, so it needs stone-safe, pH-appropriate care and is handled differently. If you have natural stone, tell us before you book and we will use the right approach for it.

How long until I can walk on the floor?

Most tile floors are usable again the same day once they dry, and good airflow speeds that up. If you add a sealer, it needs time to cure before heavy use. We will give you the specific window for your floor before we leave so you know exactly when it is ready.

Can you get rid of mold and mildew in the grout?

We remove surface soil and a lot of the mildew staining and discoloration that builds up in damp areas, which improves the look and freshness of the grout. We do not claim to remediate mold growing inside walls or under the tile. If there is an ongoing moisture or mold problem behind the surface, that needs proper remediation, not just surface cleaning, and we are happy to point you in the right direction.
